The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi organised a meeting in the capital city on April 1 to mark the 100th birth anniversary of the late General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Le Duan (April 7).

The ceremony was a chance for Hanoi youth to show respect for the great contributions to the Vietnamese revolution by Mr Duan - a steadfast communist, a prominent leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the nation and a loyal student of the t President Ho Chi Minh.

During his lifetime, Mr Duan appreciated youth’s important role in the cause of national revolution and granted boundless love to children. After receiving the award For the cause of peace promotion among nations on June 21, 1980, Mr Duan presented the award to Hanoi city to build a project for pioneers and children. The Ho Chi Minh Pioneer Brigade’s Cadre Training School named after Le Duan was inaugurated on May 19, 1983.

On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Hanoi opened the exhibition “Le Duan with Hanoi youth and people”.

A workshop on “Le Duan with Hanoi youth” was held in the capital city on March 31. More than 10 presentations at the workshop highlighted Mr Duan’s significant contributions to the Vietnamese revolution, particularly his special care for youth. Several presentations gave an insight into Mr Duan’s views on the Vietnamese youth, youth mobilisation and the formation of youth organisations.
