Hanoi to host Vietnam Fatherland Front national congress in May

VOV.VN - The 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front themed “Unity-Democracy-Innovation-Creativity- Development” will be held in Hanoi from May 11 to 13, 2026, for the 2026-2031 term, with approval from the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee.

A political report to be presented at the congress is titled “Enhancing the core political role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in promoting democracy, patriotism and the strength of great national unity, and building a strong, prosperous, civilized and happy country.”

The congress is a major political and social event demonstrating the strength of the great national unity bloc in a new era. It comes immediately after the successful 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the elections for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

The congress marks a milestone opening a new term of operation with a broader scope and a new development stage, as political and social organizations and mass associations assigned by the Party and the State are placed under the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

More than 1,300 delegates are expected to attend, including 1,138 official delegates. These include incumbent members of the 10th Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term, delegates elected from provincial and municipal congresses and member organizations, appointed delegates, overseas Vietnamese and full-time Front officials.

About 200 invited delegates are expected, including current and former leaders of the Party, the State and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, leaders of central ministries, sectors and localities, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam, and journalists from central and local media outlets.

During 2024-2026, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has strongly played its core political role in consolidating and promoting the strength of great national unity, affirming its responsibility before the Party, the State and the people. Activities of the Front and its member organizations at all levels have become more proactive, flexible and closely connected with people’s lives, while closely following the Party’s leadership and the State’s policies and laws, under the principle of staying close to the people, understanding the people, respecting the people and serving the people.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front has renewed its thinking and methods of operation, shifting towards social mobilization; moving from communication to accompanying, creating and spreading; promptly grasping and reflecting the legitimate aspirations of the people; building social consensus and strengthening the close bond between the Party, the State and the people; actively participating in and contributing to the implementation of major Party policies on Party building and the political system; contributing to improving institutions; effectively performing its role in representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people; and serving as an important bridge conveying the will of the people to the Party and the State.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) always values and treasures the valuable contributions made by overseas Vietnamese, Chairwoman of the VFF Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai noted, stressing that the Party and State consistently regard the OV community as an inseparable part and an important resource of the nation.
