Present at the event were Pham Quang Nghi, Politburo member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, and Ngo Thi Doan Thanh, Chairwoman of the People’s Council.

At the meeting, Mr. Pham Quang Nghi reviewed the most important achievements of the city in 2010, particularly the successful organisation of the 1,000^th Anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

He also expressed his sincere thanks for the great contributions of the religious dignitaries, intellectuals and artists to the capital’s achievements and sent best wishes to them for the New Year.

Local authorities will create more favourable conditions for religious dignitaries, intellectuals and artists to promote the spirit of cooperation and cultivate Hanoi’s traditions, peace and friendship spirit, Nghi said.

Representatives of religious dignitaries, intellectuals and artists thanked local authorities for their thoughtfulness. They also expressed their confidence in the country’s development policy and wish to contribute more to the developmet of the city and the nation.
