The Executive Committee of the provincial Party Committee convened an extraordinary meeting on July 25 to announce a decision regarding the disciplinary measure, which was issued by the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on July 19.

The meeting was co-chaired by the Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, Truong Tan Sang, and the Secretary of the provincial Ha Giang Party Committee, Hoang Minh Nhat.

According to the decision, To was expelled from the Communist Party of Vietnam for his ‘very serious’ violations in terms of morality and lifestyle that caused discontent in the Party and society.

Also on July 25, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung requested the Ha Giang provincial People’s Council to dismiss To from his People’s Council membership and the chairmanship of the provincial People’s Committee.

Four days earlier, the Prime Minister also signed a decision to suspend To from the post of Chairman of the Ha Giang provincial People’s Committee.
