VOV.VN -An official welcome ceremony for Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and his high-ranking delegation of Vietnam took place solemnly at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on October 9.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam arrived in Phnom Penh on October 9, beginning an official visit to Cambodia from October 9 to 10 at the invitation of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Amidst welcoming military music, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet greeted Prime Minister Le Minh Hung at the vehicle door. After receiving a bouquet from children, the two Prime Ministers stepped onto the podium.
Beneath the national flags of the two countries, national anthems, PMs and delegates performed the flag-saluting ceremony.
In a solemn atmosphere, the two Prime Ministers proceeded to salute the national flags. PM Hun Manet invited his Vietnamese counterpart Le Minh Hung to review the guard of honor of the Royal Cambodian Army.
Both PMs introduced the members of their respective high-ranking delegations attending the welcome ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony, they led the delegations of both countries in holding talks.
Within the framework of the visit, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung is scheduled to hold meetings with high-ranking leaders of the Cambodian Party and State to comprehensively exchange views on the situation of each Party and country, evaluate cooperation outcomes over the past period, and agree on major orientations for bilateral relations in a new development phase. The leaders will also witness the signing ceremony of important cooperation documents between departments, ministries, sectors, and localities, thereby establishing a legal foundation and new momentum to propel bilateral cooperation toward greater depth, substance, and efficiency.
A prominent highlight of bilateral ties is economic and trade growth. As Cambodia actively advances economic reforms toward sustainable growth, diversification, enhancement of competitiveness, and international integration, achieving a GDP growth rate of 5% in 2025 and a projected 4.2% in 2026, deepening connectivity with Vietnam's economy is a natural and mutually beneficial priority.
Economic data clearly demonstrates this cooperative momentum. In the first eight months of 2026, bilateral trade turnover reached US$ 8.7 billion, an increase of 8.3% compared to the same period in 2025. Visitor exchanges between the two nations reached approximately 1 million arrivals. Notably, in the first half of 2026, Cambodian visitors to Vietnam soaring by 40.8% to 565,000.
