Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called on the Government Office to focus on administrative reform efforts to help the Government fulfil tasks in 2007 entrusted to it by the National Assembly.

“As an important arm of the Government and Prime Minister, the Government Office should better perform its functions as an advisor, appraiser, inspector and logistics provider for the Government, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers,” said Mr Dung at a conference in Hanoi on January 19 to work out tasks for the office in 2007.

To this end, Mr Dung said the office should suggest major socio-economic development tasks and orientations as well as roadmaps to implement them. In addition, it should make recommendations to the Prime Minister’s annual report to be presented at the national Assembly, as well as the Government’s monthly resolutions and tentative working programmes.

Mr Dung praised the office’s efforts to fulfil tasks in 2006, including making timely recommendations to the Prime Minister and Government to deal with pressing socio-economic issues.

In a report delivered at the conference, Minister and Chairman of the office Doan Manh Giao, said in 2007 the office will focus on solutions for fulfilling the Government’s major tasks, coordinate closely with the Party Central Committee’s Office, the National Assembly’s Office, ministries, sectors and localities in making appropriate working programmes, while stepping up the Government’s law-making programme.

Mr Dung conferred the Independent Order, Labour Order and the Government’s Emulation Flag on individuals and collectives in recognition of their contributions to the office’s achievements.
