The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Quentin Bryce, AC, and her husband Michael Bryce AM AE, are paying a state visit to Vietnam from May 8-14.
The aim is to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam, according to an Australian Embassy press release on Friday.
The Governor-General is scheduled to meet with Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi and provincial authorities in Danang, Hue, HCM City and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
She will also open the World Conference on Drowning Prevention in Danang and visit centres promoting HIV/AIDS prevention and helmet safety as well as those engaged in nursing and treating preventable blindness.
Bryce, who was sworn in as Australia’s 25th Governor-General in September 2008, is the first woman to take up the office.
