The draft laws include the revised Cultural Heritage Law, Law on Health Check-ups and Treatment, law on investment for capital construction and Law on Telecommunications. They also discussed signing the 1993 Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect to Inter-country Adoption.
After listening to a report from Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop, the Government agreed to postpone the deadline to submit a draft of the revised Law on the Press until next February. It will be discussed at the National Assembly in May next year before it is approved in October.
The Prime Minister asked the compiling board to make clear the role of Party leadership and state management in media activities as well as in creating favourable conditions for the media to function properly as the Party, State and people’s tool for building and defending the country. He stressed the importance of revising the laws to match the country’s current situation.
During the meeting, Government members agreed to revise a number of laws related to construction, including laws on investment, bidding, enterprises, environmental protection and fire fighting and prevention.
