Government leader meets Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met a delegation from the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Russian War Veterans Association in Moscow on March 25 within his official visit to the Russian Federation.
The delegation was led by Vladimir Petrovich Buyanov, Chairman of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, and Nikolay Nikolaevich Kolesnik, Chairman of the association.
At the meeting, PM Chinh said he was pleased to meet long-standing friends of Vietnam, living witnesses to the close and trusted ties between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union and today’s Russian Federation, and conveyed regards and deep respect from Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, and other Party and State leaders of Vietnam.
He affirmed that Vietnam always remembers and values the great and sincere support of the Soviet people in the past and of the Russian Federation today in the struggle for independence and national reunification, as well as in national construction and defence. This includes the contributions, efforts, intellect and even sacrifices of members of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Russian War Veterans Association.
Referring to major and symbolic projects in Vietnam-Russia relations, including those with the former Soviet Union, the government chief said that during this visit, both sides are working to elevate ties to a new level, contributing to faster and more sustainable development in the coming period. The signing of an agreement on cooperation in building a nuclear power plant in Vietnam will add a new symbolic project to bilateral relations.
He called on the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Russian War Veterans Association to continue coordinating closely with Vietnamese agencies, especially the embassies of both countries, to organise more practical and meaningful activities that help preserve and promote traditional ties, while laying a foundation and driving further development of relations.
Leaders of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Russian War Veterans Association the Russian veterans’ organisation said they were pleased to meet the government leader and expressed confidence that the visit would be successful. They said the signing of the nuclear power cooperation agreement, along with other agreements, would help strengthen relations across various fields.
The Russian side also noted the close ties between their organisations and the Vietnam–Russia Friendship Association and the Vietnam Veterans Association, while highlighting activities such as knowledge contests, painting, photography and video competitions on each country and bilateral relations, which help preserve and promote Vietnam-Russia ties.
They expressed hope that the friendship, cooperation and traditions between the two peoples will be carried forward by future generations, and thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for continuing to value the sentiments extended by the Soviet people in the past and the Russian people today, thereby further strengthening the bond between the two nations.
