A meeting was held in Hanoi on June 16 between Deputy PM Truong Vinh Trong and Pastor Nguyen Huu Mac, a senior cleric from the Protestant Church, Northern Vietnam.

During their meeting, they pledged joint efforts to promote socio-economic development.

The Deputy PM highly appreciated the Protestants’ contribution to the national construction and reaffirmed the Party and State’s unswerving policy to “respect freedom of religion and create conditions for all religions to exercise their beliefs in line with the Constitution and law.”

He asked clerics and followers of the Vietnam Protestant Church, Northern Vietnam to uphold the national tradition of national unity, take part in patriotic movements, abide by law and work hard for the sake of national development.

In response, Pastor Nguyen Huu Mac expressed his thanks to the Government for creating favourable conditions for his church over the past years.

He vowed to encourage clerics to follow the church’s goal of “Respect God-Love the country.”
