Government leader call for greater efforts to finalize 5,000km of expressways by 2030
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, head of the State Steering Committee for key national transport projects, chaired the committee’s 23rd meeting at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi on January 30.
In his opening remarks, PM Chinh said that drawing on the spirit of the 14th National Party Congress-acting decisively, adopting sound policies, carrying out hem swiftly, and taking effectiveness as the highest measure, the steering committee must continue to implement its assigned tasks.
He urged a review of tasks that have been realized, completed and remain unfinished, with attention to project progress, investment approaches and the upgrading of roads and expressways, as well as compliance with auditing and final settlement requirements. Alongside progress, he emphasised the need to maintain quality, safety, technical standards and aesthetics, while paying close attention to the livelihoods of people who have given up land for projects.
The Government leader also asked for an assessment of projects that have already reached technical traffic-opening stages, including the Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang, Huu Nghi-Chi Lang, Dong Dang-Tra Linh, Cao Lanh-An Huu, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, and Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang projects. He stressed that alongside progress, quality and safety, efforts must be made to prevent corruption and negative practices.
Regarding road projects in provinces such as Lai Chau, Son La, Cao Bang and Tuyen Quang, PM Chinh stated said priority should be given to developing road transport systems in light of the difficult mountainous terrain. He called for studies on expressway development in these areas to help transform regional development conditions. Localities, he added, must remain proactive and act in line with the principle that “local authorities decide, local authorities act, and local authorities bear responsibility.”
Completing 5,000 kilometres of expressways by 2030 requires solutions for resource allocation, project preparation and immediate implementation, guided by the principle of “not wasting a single day, not delaying a week, not missing an opportunity in a month, and not remaining passive for an entire year.”, he emphasized.
Building on the momentum of the successful 14th National Party Congress, the Government chief called for prompt implementation of tasks, stressing that each meeting should be more effective than the previous one, each month better than the last, and each year better than the year before.
He urged ministries, sectors and localities to focus on resolving difficulties and bottlenecks, step up inspection, supervision and follow-up, and put forward solutions to prevent delays, while noting that the Ministry of Construction’s inspectorate must take an active role.
