From the ballot to the strength of national governance

VOV.VN - A ballot may be small, yet it carries great responsibility. It reflects trust in the future, expectations for modern, clean and action-oriented governance, and the aspiration to build a nation that develops rapidly, sustainably and strongly.

The national election day, the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and members of People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-

2031 term, is approaching, bringing with it the expectations of voters across the country for a state apparatus that truly serves the people and supports the nation’s sustainable development in a new phase.

More than 70 million voters taking part in the election means more than 70 million citizens exercising their power in shaping the state apparatus. From mountainous areas to lowland regions, from urban centers to remote islands, every citizen has an equal right to decide who will represent them in the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels. Regardless of occupation, social status or economic conditions, every citizen’s vote carries the same value in exercising the people’s right to exercise sovereignty over the country.

Each ballot placed in the box represents voters entrusting their confidence, expectations and responsibility to those chosen to decide on important national and local matters on their behalf.

Across successive terms of the National Assembly and People’s Councils, the role of elected bodies has become increasingly clear: lawmaking has grown more professional, supervision more substantive, and decisions on major issues more closely reflect development needs and the aspirations of the people.

Voters now participate in elections with a different mindset. It is no longer merely participation, but a choice made with consideration, comparison and higher expectations. Citizens pay closer attention to who has the integrity, capability and resolve to represent their voice; who stays close to the people, understands their concerns and is ready to take responsibility before them.

This growing political awareness among voters contributes to improving the quality of democracy, making each election a test of public trust for those holding public office.

As the country enters a new period of development facing new demands and pressures, the role of elected representatives becomes even more important.

The 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term will face strategic decisions: improving development institutions, removing bottlenecks to unlock resources, promoting science and technology development, ensuring social welfare and strengthening national governance. In this context, a voter’s ballot does not simply choose individuals for today but also selects the capacity to guide the future. A representative lacking determination will struggle to meet the demands of reform; one distant from the people cannot accurately reflect the realities of life; and one without responsibility risks weakening the trust placed in them.

When people feel their voices are heard, their legitimate interests protected and public policies responding to real needs, confidence in institutions will continue to grow.

In the country’s development journey, some milestones come from major policy decisions. Others are formed quietly by millions of ballots cast by citizens. The election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and members of People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is one such milestone, where the will of the people gathers into national strength.

A ballot may be small, yet it carries great responsibility. It reflects trust in the future, expectations for modern, clean and effective governance, and the aspiration to build a country that develops rapidly, sustainably and strongly.

Only when each voter fully recognizes their rights and responsibilities, and when each elected representative proves worthy of the trust placed in them, will democracy extend beyond election day and become a lasting driving force for national development. Above all, from those ballots, the people’s confidence continues to be sustained, steady and enduring on the path toward a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
