Friendship between UAE and Vietnam to be more and more fruitful

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a pioneer country in conveying the message of peace, tolerance and friendly cooperation with countries around the world. The UAE, under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues the path of developing a prosperous country, continuing the wishes and legacy of the country's Founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

With a balanced foreign policy based on a moderate approach and the values ​​of truth, goodness, humanity and tolerance, UAE has become a symbol of active dedication to humanitarian work  around the world.  UAE has applied an active foreign policy based on openness, established wide friendly relations with many countries around the world, on the basis of respecting the principles and charters of the United Nations and the international community, especially democracy and human rights, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

UAE continues to support the Sustainable Development Goals to build a better and more sustainable future for the world and future generations. UAE continues its efforts to join hands to address major global challenges, especially those related to poverty reduction, environmental protection and climate change response, laying the foundation and principles for justice and peace, and to support and promote global progress.

Today, UAE is known as a country with a diverse, potential, innovation-based economy, always with stable growth, and per capita income ranked in the top 10 in the world.

In the process of developing the country over the past five decades, the UAE has achieved high rankings in the world, building a safe and attractive environment for foreign investment with political and economic stability, modern infrastructure, effective economic policies, along with a flexible mechanism to encourage foreign investors in many fields. Known as one of the major financial and trade centers in the region and in the world, it is an international transit station for maritime and aviation connecting East and West.

This year, UAE celebrates its 51st National Day to coincide with the time when the UAE and Vietnam prepare for activities to celebrate the 30th  anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1993-2023).

The leaders of UAE and Vietnam have always supported multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam. Since UAE and Vietnam officially established diplomatic relations in 1993, so far the two countries have obtained many achievements in many fields. And as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, it is also the time when the international community recognizes and appreciates the efforts of the UAE and Vietnam, through the fact that the two countries won the position of non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 terms; member of the Human Rights Council for the 2022-2024 and 2023-2025 terms; Vietnam was elected Vice President of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.

The achievement that UAE won the right to host the Conference of the Parties on Climate Change COP 28 in 2023 and the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai in early October 2021, an outstanding event with the participation of many different countries and cultures, is the culmination of continuing efforts over the years.

During the past three decades, the good relationship between UAE  and Vietnam has been increasingly consolidated and diversified. The two countries continue to cooperate effectively in issues related to politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, aviation, culture, education, labor and tourism, and increase visits of senior leaders, investment promotion delegations, trade and friendship exchanges, along with many signed agreements, and memorandums of understanding as well as mutual support at international forums showing great potential in the cooperation relationship between the two countries.

UAE is considered one of the leading foreign investors in Vietnam and is Vietnam's largest export market in the Middle East and North Africa. We are confident that this trade and investment relationship will continue to grow stronger in the future. Known as a financial and trade center of the Middle East, an important gateway to Europe and Africa, UAE has a favorable position to facilitate Vietnam's access to and expansion into the global market.

Moreover, a number of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements signed recently between the UAE and strategic partners such as India, Indonesia and Israel, which also have very good relations with Vietnam, will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to have more opportunities to penetrate and benefit from these potential markets. At the same time, UAE also considers Vietnam an important gateway when accessing the Southeast Asian market.

Along with efforts to pursue economic development goals, UAE also attaches great importance to aspects to ensure sustainable development. In fact, UAE is aware that natural resources will become exhausted, and it needs to be exploited and used appropriately. UAE also actively participates in contributing and sharing efforts with the international community to face challenges related to global climate change.

Accordingly, UAE has increased its support for investment in solutions to limit the impact of climate change both inside the country and abroad, and it is currently one of the leading countries in the region in developing clean energy.

The UAE's winning of the right to host the COP 28 Climate Change Conference in 2023, an outstanding international event with the high consensus of most countries, is the culmination of continuing efforts of Emiratis' leaders and people over the years and a symbol of the beginning of the UAE's development journey over the next 50 years.
