French experts: August Revolution very significant

The success of the August Revolution in Vietnam was a significant event not only for Vietnam but also for other French colonies around the world at that time, according to French researchers and experts.

Historian Alain Ruscio, who has written 15 books on Vietnam’s history, the wars of resistance, and the August Revolution, always has great admiration for the revolution. He said the revolution was one of the greatest events in the country’s history.

It had a very important influence on the struggles of other colonies around the world, especially in Africa, as Vietnam was the first French colony to break free, says the historian.

Journalist Daniel Roussel, meanwhile, has devoted much of his time studying Vietnam’s history. He has been to Vietnam many times to make a series of features and photos of the Vietnamese people, and then war of resistance against foreign invaders.

The August Revolution and President Ho Chi Minh’s Declaration of Independence symbolises the Vietnamese people’s iron will, which was evident in their war of resistance to gain national independence.

According to historian Francis Andreau, the glorious victory of the revolution was the result of Vietnamese people’s unity and the leadership of the Communist party of Vietnam and former President Ho Chi Minh.

The success of the August Revolution was a major milestone in the country’s history, says historian Gilbert School, adding that it was also the beginning of many colonies’ struggle for national independence.
