Heng Samrin, President of the Cambodian National Assembly, received Vice Chairman of Vietnamese National Assembly Huynh Ngoc Son in Phnom Penh on March 30.

Son, who is leading a Vietnamese delegation at the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Cambodia from March 29 – April 3, briefed Heng Samrin on Vietnam’s socio-economic situation and the Vietnamese NA’s operation.

He expressed his appreciation for Cambodia’s assistance in repatriating the remains of Vietnamese revolutionary soldiers.

The NA Vice Chairman highlighted the demarcation and marker planting between the two countries, saying he believes it will be completed as scheduled to make the border an area of friendship and cooperation.

Heng Samrin expressed his belief that Son’s visit will contribute to fostering bilateral cooperation and special consolidation and said he is delighted with the rapid development of Vietnam-Cambodia relations, especially in economics, trade, and investment.

He congratulated Vietnam on its success with the Renewal (Doi Moi) process and is confident that under the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnamese people will gain greater achievements in the future.

NA President Heng Samrin thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government, and people for assisting Cambodia to escape from the genocidal regime and helping them in the national recovery and development.

During his visit to Cambodia, NA Vice Chairman Son also held talks with Nguon Nhel, First Vice President of the Cambodian NA, worked with Deputy Prime Ministers Men Som Ol and Tea Banh, and paid a courtesy visit to First Vice Senate President Say Chhum.
