The ceremony was attended by State President Nguyen Minh Triet, State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, and former State Vice Presidents Nguyen Thi Binh and Truong My Hoa.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Minh Quang, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Centrally-run Agency Sector, highlighted Mr. Luong’s great contributions to the nation’s renewal process and causes of construction and defence.

In any circumstances, former President Luong has always embodied the virtues of a Communist Party member and fulfilled the tasks assigned to him by the Party and State, said Mr. Quang.

Mr. Luong said he felt very honoured to be granted the insignia and pledged to devote his life to the country.
