The ceremony was attended by State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, representatives from central agencies, MoFA and the family of Mr Nguyen Co Thach.

President Triet presented the Gold Star Order to Mr Thach’s wife Phan Thi Phuc and spoke highly of Mr Thach’s great and excellent contributions to the Party and nation’s revolutionary cause.

During his 60-year revolutionary life, Mr Thach has devoted his whole life to the cause of national liberation, and socialist construction for people’s happiness. President Triet affirmed that Mr Thach was an outstanding leader who had brought the diplomatic the sector from one victory to another.

He also hoped that the diplomatic staff will follow Mr Thach’s bright example to fulfill their key tasks in the new period.
