Foreign Ministry responds to US Embassy map of Vietnam without Hoang Sa,Truong Sa

VOV.VN - Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang, during a regular press briefing on September 17, informed about the recent incident, in which the US Embassy removed from its official Facebook page an accurate Vietnamese map including Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

“Vietnam affirms its consistent stance that the Spratly and Paracel Islands are an inseparable part of the Vietnamese territory. The nation has sufficient historical evidence and legal basis to assert sovereignty over the two islands in line with international law. This consistent stance has been taken  many times in multiple forms, including at the United Nations, and is supported and respected by many countries,"  Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang said.

Earlier on September 9, the US Embassy in Hanoi posted a map of Vietnam including the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos on its Facebook page, but later replaced it with an image without the two islands on September 15.
