Five ministers will be questioned at a week-long session of the National Assembly Standing Committee which opened in Hanoi on March 15.

Minister of Finance Vu Van Ninh will answer questions relating to price management, measures to rein in runaway inflation, the issuance and use of government bonds and tax management. He will be asked about the ministry’s responsibility toward Pacific Airlines’ operations and equitisation progress of State-owned enterprises.

Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan will be questioned about the State management of living quarters, new urban areas, labour safety in construction, as well as plans to build houses for low-income earners.

The Ministers of Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, and Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs will also take part in the question time. ‘

During the session, Lawmakers will give opinions on a number of bills, including those on housing and land tax, child adoption, posts, environmental tax, Vietnamese seas, and minerals. They are expected to approve an ordinance on airplane seizing procedures.
