The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee held its second conference in Ho Chi Minh City on January 27 to review its action plan in 2009 and set tasks for 2010.

In 2009, the VFF successfully organised its 7th National Congress following grassroots-level VFF congresses in provinces and cities across the country. Exemplary role model movements were launched in every sector, agency and residential area to boost production and improve the quality of life.

Notably, the campaign of “Studying and following late president Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples” and the campaign “Day for the Poor” received great response from people of all social strata.

Many provinces organised conferences to compliment their citizens, including those among ethnic communities and religious followers, for their outstanding achievements in these movements and campaigns. More than 250 individuals and collectives were selected to attend a national conference for those who excelled in the campaign ‘People united to build a new lifestyle in residential areas’.

Last year, the VFF Central Committee played host to a national conference for Vietnamese nationals residing abroad. Nearly 900 delegates living in 52 countries and territories attended the event, showing the aspiration of nearly four million Vietnamese nationals living abroad to build up their communities and turn their minds to the homeland.
