The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) has played well its role in gathering mass organisations and people from all social strata to strengthen the bloc of great national unity, said State President Nguyen Minh Triet at the seventh conference of the VFF Presidium in Hanoi on January 9.

He praised the VFF for its practical movements to bring into full play people’s role in enhancing the capacity of the Party and administration, promoting people’s diplomacy and expanding its activities across the country, thereby winning people’s trust.

He proposed that VFF develop new initiatives to get more people involved in national and local development programmes and affirmed that the Party and State will create favourable conditions for VFF to fulfil its role and function.

In 2006, VFF and its chapters actively participated in preparing for grassroots Party congresses and the 10th National Party Congress, and successfully organised the Great Unity Congress of the Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) ethnic groups in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province.

The Great National Unity Day, launched at nearly 100,000 residential areas across the country, received a positive response from different sections of the population. The campaigns “The entire people unite to build a new cultural lifestyle at residential areas” and “Day for the Poor” continued to achieve practical results.

VFF and its chapters also launched humanitarian campaigns to support victims of national disasters.
