Vietnam accuses China of violating marine sovereignty
Chinese marine surveillance ships violate Vietnam’s sovereignty
In fact, a few people spontaneously went past and gathered at the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi and the Chinese Consul General in HCM City only to show their patriotic spirit of protecting the national sovereignty against Chinese marine surveillance vessels’ which recently cut surveying cables of the Binh Minh 02, a PetroVietnam ship, when it was making seismic surveys within the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of Vietnam.
According to these people, the Chinese marine surveillance vessels’ actions seriously violated Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction rights to its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) signed between ASEAN and China.
These people gathered to show their attitude in a gentle manner and left after hearing explanations from representatives of relevant Vietnamese functioned agencies and mass organisations.
