Everyone should be responsible for ensuring traffic safety: PM Dung
Every person should be responsible for reducing traffic accidents and traffic jams, says Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
Mr Dung made the statement while delivering a radio message when he visited Radio the Voice of Vietnam on December 27. He stressed that traffic accidents and traffic jams are a pressing social issue.
Although Vietnam has taken measures to ensure traffic safety and minimize traffic jams and made certain achievements, traffic accidents which kill 30 people and injures dozens of others a day, remain a thorny problem, he said.
As a result, the Government has decided to choose 2012 as the year for traffic safety, PM Dung said.

The Government leader also emphasised that every people should be responsible for themselves, for their families, friends and the whole society and the first thing they can do is to follow traffic regulations.
The Prime Minister also urged ministries, branches and authorities to direct to the implementation of the Government’s urgent and long-term measures from the very first days of the New Year, in order to reduce traffic accidents and casualties by 5-10 percent a year and ease traffic jams in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Action plan for Traffic Safety Year 2012 will be launched on January 1, 2012.
