The Ministry of Home Affairs held a meeting in Buon Ma Thuot City on April 25 to train cadres in the necessary skills for the coming National Assembly and People’s Council elections.

The meeting was attended by 200 officials from provincial departments of home affairs and members of electoral boards at the provincial and district levels from 10 provinces in the southcentral region and the Central Highlands.

The delegates were taught the duties and authority of electoral units, and the work required before, during and after election day. They learnt about assigning tasks among members of electoral units, preparing rooms for ballot casting, preparing voting boxes, and the various kinds of stamps, as well as the forms of casting, sealing, managing and counting ballots, and summing up the results of the elections.

They also discussed incidents that could possibly occur during the election process and ways to deal with them.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Tran Huu Thang urged electoral boards to mobilize as many voters as possible to join in the elections. He also called for regular information updates to address any problems in a timely manner.
