Efforts needed to sustain high growth, says Party leader
Central and local Party committees and authorities should work closely with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to implement plans for boosting socio-economic development and Party building.
- Economic restructuring tops Party conference agenda
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made this request on October 10 at the closing ceremony of the 11th Party Central Committee's third conference in Hanoi.
He praised the efforts made by Party, people, and armed forces to iron out snags and gain initial achievements.

He attributed the problems to negative impact of the global economic downturn, shortcomings in the economy, ineffective growth models and an outdated economic mechanism.
The Party chief summarized the results of the four-day conference, which focused on assessing the socio-economic situation, evaluating obstacles and challenges, and predicting development trends in the future.
He said, the Party Central Committee needs accurate analysis of the relationship between the growth rate and quality of development as well as high growth and macro-economic stability; curbing inflation; stabilizing the economy; renovating the growth model and restructuring the economy to advance economic growth, cultural development, social progress and equality.
The conference reached a consensus on key measures for directing and implementing plans to make changes in stimulating economic growth and boosting economic restructuring to improve the effectiveness of the economy.
The Party Central Committee also emphasized the importance of ensuring national food and energy security, protecting the environment, and maintaining political stability and social order.
In addition, the conference issued three important documents on implementing the Party Statute to strengthen discipline and enhance the political virtue of Party members.
