Education to strengthen US-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
VOV.VN - Education is the foundation and driving force behind the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as stated by United States Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper during a recent meeting held with students from Hanoi National University.
According to Ambassador Knapper, the meeting was significant as it marked the beginning of a string of activities in the build up to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both sides.
It was exactly 25 years ago that President Bill Clinton became the first US President to visit Hanoi and the Hanoi National University. At the time, President Clinton declared a new chapter in diplomatic ties, he said.
Ambassador Knapper affirmed that education is the foundation of the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with education being the seed that can help multiple generations grow into leaders, innovators, and global citizens.
For this reason, the US has collaborated alongside lectures and students at the Vietnam National University to implement groundbreaking initiatives, including promoting geographic research with NASA, expanding English language programmes, and co-operating on curriculum design for key industries like semiconductors.
Currently, over 60 students and faculty members from the Hanoi National University have participated in exchange programmes with the US government. Indeed, Vietnam is co-operating with more than 10 US educational organizations on student and faculty exchanges, research, and the sharing of teaching methods in education.
The US diplomat added that alongside other fields, education will serve to further advance the long-term vision of US-Vietnam relations, thereby creating fresh momentum to foster the continued development of the US-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
