Vietnam always welcomes foreign investors, says PM
VOV.VN - Vietnam welcomes and creates the best possible conditions for foreign businesses to operate successfully in the long term in the country, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assured foreign businesses at a reception in Hanoi on November 25.
Vietnam is making efforts to improve its business and investment environment to support business operations, Phuc told big businesses from Germany, Switzerland and Israel led by former German Vice Chancellor Philipp Rosler.
The country encourages foreign direct investment (FDI) in such areas as high technology, innovation, development of supporting industries, training and development of human resources, he said.
The Prime Minister appreciated the businesses’ investment projects in Vietnam, including in tourism, one of the country’s spearhead industry, and said he welcomes their plans to invest in digital innovation startups, an area in which Vietnam has great potential for cooperation.
Vietnam will work alongside foreign businesses, considering their success as its success, he stressed.
For his part, German Vice Chancellor Philipp Rosler congratulated Vietnam on its initial success in containing the COVID-19 pandemic, considering this as an exemplary model for other countries to follow suit.
He acknowledged Vietnam’s improved investment environment in recent times and expressed businesses’ desires to increase mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnam in a number of areas, including tourism.
He announced the delegation’s decision to invest US$350 million in key areas, including tourism, digital innovation startups and medical equipment manufacturing.
Representatives of the visiting businesses expressed hope that the Government, ministries, and localities of Vietnam will remove all difficulties, especially in terms of administrative procedures, to help them operate successfully in the country.
Some spoke of their plans to move production lines from other countries to Vietnam.
