VOV.VN - When the clock stroke midnight on January 21, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered a speech, extending lunar New Year greetings to all Vietnamese fellow countrymen nationwide and overseas.
In his speech, he said 2022 has just passed with full of memorable events, noting it was a year with many difficulties and challenges that dealt a heavy blow to the world, including Vietnam.
In such a context, he said the entire Party, people and the army promoted passionate patriotism, determination, bravery, solidarity, dynamism, and creativity, recording important, comprehensive achievements in various areas.
According to the top leader, Vietnam succeeded in bringing the COVID-19 pandemic under control and promoted socio-economic recovery and development, while trying to build an independent and self-reliant economy associated with proactive, comprehensive and effective international integration.
Notably, he said Vietnam maintained social and political stability, ensured national defense and security, and created a peaceful and stable environment for national development. More importantly, people’s trust in the Party, State and the socialist regime was consolidated, while Vietnam’s efforts and achievements were recognized and appreciated by international friends.
On behalf of the Party and State, Trong acknowledged and thanked Vietnamese compatriots, comrades and soldiers nationwide for their contributions to the achievements Vietnam had obtained in the past year.
Entering 2023, the lunar Year of the Cat, the General Secretary expected the entire Party, people and the army would continue to uphold the tradition of national patriotism and unity to overcome all difficulties and challenges, comprehensively and synchronously promote the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, firmly defend the Fatherland, maintain a peaceful and stable environment, and successfully implement goals and tasks set for the year, creating the prerequisite for the country to facilitate national rapid and sustainable development in the following years.
Once again, he wished all Vietnamese compatriots and comrades good health, joy, happiness and success in the year ahead.
