PM chairs Government meeting for April, highlights key priorities
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 6 chaired a regular Government meeting for April, reviewing the country’s socio-economic performance in April and the first four months of 2025, and outlining key tasks and solutions for May, quarter II and beyond.

According to the PM, April is a historic month marked by the successful organisation of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, and 80 major infrastructure projects inaugurated or launched. Relevant ministries and agencies drafted the largest number of bills and resolutions for debates at the Party Central Committee plenum and National Assembly session.
In addition, the government has proactively been working on local governance reform plans toward a two-tier local government system, as well as on economic growth stimulation efforts.
In his analysis, the global environment remained complex and volatile, with international organisations downgrading global growth forecasts. Domestically, Vietnam maintained macroeconomic stability, kept inflation under control, and sustained growth momentum. All three sectors - agriculture, industry, and services - showed strong performance.
Social welfare and people’s living standards improved, while security, defence, and diplomacy were reinforced.
However, he pointed out major challenges, including persistent macroeconomic management pressures, business difficulties in multiple sectors, cumbersome administrative procedures, incomplete decentralisation affecting development, as well as issues related to counterfeit goods, fake drugs, and cyber security, that need to be addressed soon.
The PM asked for viable solutions to achieve GDP growth of 8% or more, and to promote sustainable and inclusive development, while advancing four key Politburo resolutions science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; international integration; legal reform; and private sector growth.
He reminded delegates that good preparations should be made to kick-start negotiations on a new trade deal with the United States, and organise the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh and the 80th anniversary of National Day.
