Party chief lauds former elite leaders’ contributions to nation

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong hailed practical contributions to Vietnam's national development and international integration by former Party and State leaders at a get-together in Hanoi on February 6, marking the 93rd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

He thanked the former Party and State leaders for their contributions, saying despite difficulties and challenges, the leaders had always united, closely coordinated and creatively made right, timely and appropriate decisions to direct the entire Party, people and army to record important results.

The Party chief briefed the participants on Vietnam’s impressive performance in 2022, orientations for 2023 and beyond, and expected the former Party and State leaders would continue to make recommendations to help Vietnam successfully implement those future tasks and goals.

Among the participants at the meeting were former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, former State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and many other former Party and State leaders.

Incumbent Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, incumbent National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Politburo member, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong, and acting State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan were also on hand.

The former Party and State leaders expressed their confidence in the Party’s leadership, and at the same time noted the shortcomings that need to be addressed in the coming time.
