National Party conference focuses on Party building and key reforms
VOV.VN - The Poliburo and the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam is to hold a national conference on Oct. 16 to study, disseminate and implement the Resolutions of the Fourth Plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee, aiming to build a common understanding and translate the Party’s decisions into practice.
The conference is taking place in a hybrid format, combining in-person participation with online connections. The main venue is the National Assembly Building in Hanoi, with connections to provincial and municipal Party committees, Party committees directly under the Central Committee, and agencies and organisations nationwide. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam is scheduled to attend and deliver a keynote address.
It focuses on six key topics: strengthening Party building and rectification and developing a clean, strong and comprehensive political system; renewing the Party’s leadership and governing methods in the political system; building a contingent of officials at all levels, particularly strategic-level officials; regulations governing Party members’ participation in investment and business activities; a national strategy for attracting, recruiting and developing talent in key sectors and fields; and reviewing socio-economic performance and state budget implementation in 2026, alongside proposed socio-economic development plans and state budget estimates for 2027.
The conference is to ensure that officials and Party members, particularly Party committee members and heads of Party organisations, gain a thorough understanding of the Resolutions’s core contents, new points and key tasks. This is expected to provide a basis for developing practical and feasible action plans and ensuring consistent implementation from the central level to grassroots organisations.
At the closing session of the Fourth Plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee on October 8, General Secretary and State President To Lam stressed the need to link Party building with national governance and development. He called on Central Committee members to take direct responsibility for leading and directing the areas and localities assigned to them, centering on key tasks and seeing their responsibilities through to completion. He emphasised that commitments must be honoured, assigned tasks carried out and shortcomings addressed.
The conference marks a further step towards translating the Party Central Committee’s decisions into practice, strengthening leadership capacity, improving implementation and delivering tangible changes across Party committees, Party organisations and public agencies.
