VOV.VN - The Party Central Committee, the State President, the Government, the National Assembly, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, and Hanoi authorities held a grand ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on September 2.

The programme features a traditional torch relay, a flag-raising ceremony, an address by Party and State leaders, followed by a large-scale military parade, mass march, and art performances.
The highlight of the event is a parade involving around 40,000 participants, divided into 87 formations. These included four ceremonial flag formations, 22 units of the Vietnam People’s Army, 17 units of the People’s Public Security, three militia and guerrilla units, 13 civilian formations, 14 formations of military vehicles and artillery, nine formations of special police vehicles, and the Red Flag formation. In addition, 29 standing formations and guard-of-honour units provide ceremonial support and mass displays.
The Vietnam People’s Air Force presents an impressive fly-past with 30 aircraft, including Mi helicopters, Su-30MK2 fighter jets, Yak-130 fighter trainers, L-29NG training aircraft, and Casa transport planes. For the first time, Vietnam also holds a naval parade off the coast of Khanh Hoa province, featuring submarines, missile frigates, anti-submarine vessels, coast guard ships, fisheries surveillance vessels, hospital ships, and naval helicopters.
The celebration also welcomes military contingents from China, Russia, Laos, and Cambodia.
At the My Dinh Stadium area, 15 ceremonial 105mm cannons fire salutes, creating a solemn and heroic atmosphere. After marching past the grandstand at Ba Dinh Square, parade formations continue along central streets of the capital for the public to witness and cheer.
To serve citizens and visitors, Hanoi authorities has installed 270 LED screens across the city and designated priority areas for war veterans and the elderly along the parade routes.
On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam), ushering in a new era of independence, freedom, and happiness for the nation.
