Downtown Ho Chi Minh City packed with people waiting to watch military parade
VOV.VN - Downtown Ho Chi Minh City has been overwhelmed with crowds as tens of thousands of residents and tourists flocked to key streets to secure spots for a military parade celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30).

Many people brought mats, blankets, and food to camp overnight, reserving good viewing spots early. From 1:00 PM on April 29, major arteries were already jam-packed. By 11:00 PM, the area from Ba Son Bridge to Khanh Hoi Bridge was nearly paralyzed due to the dense crowds and traffic congestion.
The military parade is scheduled to take place at 8:00 AM on April 30 along Le Duen Boulevard, featuring 13,000 participants from 48 marching units. The programme also included an aerial display with fighter jets and helicopters carrying flags and releasing flares over the city.
To ensure safety, from 1:00 AM on April 30, authorities tightened control around the central area. Many roads were closed from 3:00 AM, and large parking lots such as University of Science campus and shopping centers were designated for spectators’ use.

Half a century has passed, yet every April, millions of Vietnamese are once again filled with pride, honour, and deep remembrance of the historic moment of the victory on April 30, 1975, marking the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
The Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and Ho Chi Minh City authorities will solemnly hold a grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification in Ho Chi Minh City on April 30, 2025.
Following the celebration will be a military parade and civic march taking place along Le Duan Street, in front of the Reunification Palace.
