Diverse activities to mark 50 years of Vietnam - Malaysia diplomatic relations
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia in collaboration with the Malaysia - Vietnam Friendship Association on June 26 unveiled a series of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Malaysia.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh emphasised that bilateral co-operation has been further consolidated across multiple fields over the past 50 years, ranging from politics, diplomacy, defence and security, to economy, trade, investment, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Both countries moved to upgrade their relations to a strategic partnership in 2015.
The Vietnamese diplomat went on to express his belief that mutual ties will continue to grow in a stronger manner in the future as both sides boast great potential for co-operation in areas such as sustainable development, innovation, and technology.
For her part, Tran Thi Chang, president of the Malaysia - Vietnam Friendship Association, said both countries share plenty of similarities in terms of culture, adding that she will strive to bolster the fruitful friendship that exists between the two countries moving forward.
Under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, the Malaysia - Vietnam Friendship Association plans to organise a series of activities such as boat racing, football competition, a Vietnam Day in Malaysia, and a number of trade fairs, she added.
At the ceremony, the Malaysia - Vietnam Friendship Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation with the Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC) and the Department of Digital Art Heritage.
Vietnam is Malaysia’s 11th largest trading partner and is the seventh largest export market for Malaysian goods with two-way trade turnover last year reaching about US$15 billion. The two countries aim to raise bilateral trade turnover to US$18 billion by 2025.
