Vietnam to attend 2025 Int’l Conference on Financing for Development in Spain
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc will lead a Vietnamese delegation to the fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Seville and make a working visit to Spain from June 30 to July 3 at the invitation of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

FfD4, which will gather over 200 delegations and approximately 10,000 participants, including more than 60 heads of state and senior leaders, is expected to be a key milestone in advancing a new global financial framework. Phoc is scheduled to deliver speeches at sessions and participate in a roundtable on revitalising international development cooperation, affirming Vietnam’s active, responsible, and constructive role in global cooperation and financial reform.
Bilaterally, the visit comes shortly after the official visit of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to Vietnam in April 2025, the first ever by a Spanish head of government, signaling a new, deeper phase in Vietnam–Spain relations. The two countries are working to boost cooperation in key sectors such as renewable energy, digital transformation, railways, seaports, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, tourism, and agricultural processing.
Significantly, Deputy PM Phoc will also meet with leaders of Catalonia, Spain’s second-largest economic region, to bolster ties not only at the national but also at regional levels.
The visit will focus on four key areas of cooperation, namely business and investment connectivity; port development; tourism promotion; and financial cooperation, all of which are Spain’s strengths and align with Vietnam’s strategic development needs.
According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Spain Doan Thanh Song, this visit marks a concrete step in Vietnam's commitment to enhancing multilateral diplomacy. It demonstrates the country’s proactive engagement in international financial institutions and its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The visit also aims to help Vietnam access official development assistance (ODA) and mobilise private investment more effectively.
