Vietnam reaffirms Japan as a key strategic partner
VOV.VN - Vietnam consistently regards Japan as a key strategic partner and a trusted friend, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long told House of Representatives Speaker Fukushiro Nukaga during their meeting in Tokyo on September 10.

At the meeting, Long, who is visiting Japan, emphasised the strong and trustworthy development of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership which he said has yielded positive results, bringing practical benefits for the two countries.
He also extended National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s invitation to Speaker Nukaga to visit Vietnam in the near future.
Speaker Nukaga congratulated Vietnam on the 80th National Day and the success of Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025, Osaka, Kansai. He noted the rapid development of bilateral ties and the great potential for further cooperation, affirming that Vietnam is one of Japan’s most important partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
He proposed that the legislative bodies of both countries continue to strengthen exchanges and close cooperation.
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Long also met with former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi, and Minister of Justice Keisuke Suzuki.
At the meeting with former Prime Minister Suga, Deputy PM Long conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and expressed gratitude for Suga’s long-standing support for Vietnam–Japan relations over the years. He requested Suga’s support for simplifying visa procedures and moving toward visa exemptions for Vietnamese citizens to promote tourism and provide further support to the over 600,000 Vietnamese living, studying, and working in Japan.
Japanese leaders congratulated Vietnam on its 80th National Day, praised the success of Vietnam National Day at EXPO 2025, and pledged to continue close cooperation with Vietnam across all fields, consistent with the countries’ strong and friendly relations.
