Vietnam introduces foreign and defense policy line in Venezuela

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela in collaboration with the Defense Attaché Association of countries in Venezuela introduced Vietnam’s foreign and defense policy line on May 22.

In his speech, Ambassador Vu Trung My reviewed the history of the Vietnamese revolution, emphasizing that under the clear-sighted leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese revolution has won victory after victory, recording resounding gains.

The ambassador affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues the foreign policy line of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development; the foreign policy of openness and diversification and multilateralization of international relations. It proactively and actively engages in international integration.

Currently, he said Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with all 193 member countries of the United Nations, including all 35 American countries.

With regard to the defense policy, Ambassador My stressed that Vietnam builds its defense power based on the aggregate strength of the great national unity bloc, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. It resolutely and persistently fights to resolve all disputes and disagreements by peaceful means on the basis of international law.

The country consistently and steadfastly implements the ‘four No’s’ defense policy that is not engaging in military alliances, not aligning with one country to fight another, not allowing foreign countries to set up military bases or use territory to fight other countries, and not using force or threatening to use force in international relations.

On behalf of the Defense Attaché Association of countries in Venezuela, Colonel, Deputy Military Attaché of the Mexican Embassy, ​​Witman Perez Cuevas expressed his admiration for the heroic struggle of the Vietnamese people. He thanked the Vietnamese Embassy for organizing a meaningful event, helping defense attachés of other countries better understand the country and its people, as well as its foreign and defense policy, contributing to enhancing mutual trust and creating opportunities for exchange and cooperation between countries and Vietnam.

Colonel Fernández Abub, Defense Attaché of the Dominican Republic, shared that he had long heard about Vietnam’s gains in the struggle for national independence and freedom. He recalled his impression of the country during his past visit, and expressed his belief that the Vietnamese people would achieve the goal of a rich people, a strong, equitable, democratic and civilized society.
