Vietnam encourages Haeco’s high-tech investment, supports Van Don project
VOV.VN - The Government of Vietnam creates the most favourable conditions for Swire and its subsidiaries, including Haeco, to invest, operate, and engage in long-term, effective business in Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh told Richard Sell, CEO of Haeco, a member of Swire.
Swire is a diversified multinational corporation headquartered in the United Kingdom. Haeco, a member of Swire based in Hong Kong, operates across the Asia-Pacific, North America, and Europe. It is a world-leading enterprise in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), providing services for airframe, engines, components, and aviation technical training.
Haeco comprises 16 member companies, operates 28 hangars, serves more than 300 airlines, and employs over 16,000 staff.
Welcoming Sell’s working trip to Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Binh expressed the hope of promoting and expanding Haeco’s investment and cooperation activities in Vietnam.
Vietnam always supports and encourages foreign investors to invest in the country’s high-tech industries, he affirmed, adding all high-tech industries in Vietnam enjoy incentives, and aircraft maintenance is considered a high-tech sector, so it qualifies for preferential treatment.
For his part, Sell reported that Haeco, Sun Group, and partners plan to invest US$360 million in building an aircraft maintenance complex at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh province.
Haeco recently signed a 15-year contract with a US partner to provide maintenance services for the partner’s aircraft at the Van Don complex, opening numerous opportunities for cooperation with Vietnamese and other international partners.
To accelerate the implementation of cooperation activities, Sell requested the Vietnamese Government, ministries, and local authorities to facilitate Haeco’s operations, especially through policies supporting taxes, land leasing, visas, immigration, housing for experts, and labor policies.
The Deputy PM asked Haeco to complete investment procedures in Van Don and encouraged the group to train and utilize local human resources, noting that Vietnamese workers are fully capable of handling tasks in high-tech sectors.
He also asked Sell to continue practical activities to promote other investment and cooperation initiatives in areas where Haeco has expertise and Vietnam has demand.
