Vietnam calls on US to remove Cuba from State Sponsors of Terrorism list

VOV.VN - Vietnam has called on the United States to remove Cuba from its list of State Sponsors of Terrorism and lift its embargo against the Caribbean state.

Pham Thu Hang, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was speaking at a press briefing in Hanoi on June in response to a question raised by Prensa Latina - the Latin American News Agency.

Hang said Vietnam acknowledged that the US has removed Cuba from a short list of countries it alleges are “not cooperating fully” in its fight against terrorism, but still keeps the Caribbean state on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.

She voiced Vietnam’s consistent stance of strongly supporting of the UN General Assembly's resolutions requesting the US to end its embargo against Cuba.

"We expect that the US will make necessary measures to reach a full normalisation of relations with Cuba, which will contribute to peace, cooperation, stability and development in the Americas and the wider world," said the spokesperson.
