Vietnam – Belarus political consultation outlines cooperation orientations
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Belarus hammered out orientations for bilateral cooperation in various areas during a political consultation held in Belarus on April 24 and co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang of Vietnam and First Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Lukashevich of Belarus.

The two sides exchanged updates on socio-economic developments and foreign policies, reviewed the implementation of past agreements, and mapped out plans for future high-level exchanges and cooperation.
They expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation, particularly after recent reciprocal visits by senior leaders, including Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The two sides agreed to boost regular exchanges, deepen cooperation at multilateral forums, and jointly arrange upcoming high-level visits. They underscored the need to increase economic ties and noted that current trade volume remains modest compared to potential.
They welcomed the outcome of the recent 16th session of the Vietnam–Belarus Intergovernmental Committee and agreed to enhance trade, investment, and market access. They appreciated the recent visa waiver for citizens of the two countries and supported the launch of direct flights to facilitate trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
They held that both Vietnam and Belarus hold potential for enhancing cooperation in other fields such as science, innovation, agriculture, machinery, culture, and sports.
On education, Vietnam proposed an increase in Belarussian scholarships for Vietnamese students.
With regard to cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, the two diplomats agreed that both ministries should maintain regular political consultations to coordinate bilateral relations effectively.
Sharing views on regional and global issues, the two diplomats reaffirmed a commitment to an independent, balanced, and multilateral foreign policy. They called for peaceful dispute resolution based on international law and the United Nations Charter.
During the visit to Belarus on April 23-24, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang met with Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, who praised the outcome of the political consultation and affirmed Belarus’ desire to elevate ties with Vietnam. Ryzhenkov highlighted Vietnam as one of Belarus’ most important partners in the region and expressed readiness to support future high-level exchanges.
