Vietnam and Uruguay promote multilateral cooperation
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Uruguay agreed to further promote bilateral relations and deepen multilateral cooperation during a working visit to Uruguay from July 31 to August 2 by Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina and concurrently to Uruguay Ngo Minh Nguyet.

Nguyen held meetings with Juan Castillo, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay and Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, as well as with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valeria Csukasi.
At the meeting with Castillo, Nguyet extended an invitation to the ruling Broad Front (FA) coalition and the Communist Party of Uruguay to attend the grand celebration of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).
Castillo affirmed the historical significance and contemporary value of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now Socialist Republic of Vietnam) in 1945, which marked a new era for the Vietnamese nation. He also highly praised Vietnam’s remarkable political, economic, and social achievements over the past eight decades, especially its significant progress during the 40 years of the Đổi Mới (Renovation) process.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the sound cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and both the Communist Party of Uruguay and the left-wing Broad Front (FA), contributing to the development of bilateral relations.
At the meeting with Csukasi, Nguyet expressed hope that both sides would continue to promote delegation exchanges and enhance coordination and mutual support at multilateral and regional forums such as the United Nations, the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). She especially emphasised the early launch of negotiations for a trade agreement between MERCOSUR and Vietnam.
Csukasi stated that she would visit Vietnam in mid-August and attend the 5th Political Consultation between the two foreign ministries to improve bilateral cooperation.

During the trip, Nguyet also attended and delivered a speech at an advanced political theory course held by the Communist Party of Uruguay. Her speech focused on Vietnam's recent socio-economic development achievements and foreign policy.
Participants, many of whom were young party members, showed strong interest in Vietnam's political, economic, cultural, and social landscape and asked many questions to better understand Vietnam’s socialist-oriented market economy.
On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyet also inspected the implementation of the "Vietnam Space" project on Jose Pedro Valera Avenue in Montevideo, located in front of Antel Arena, Uruguay’s most modern national convention center.
The Montevideo city government expressed its hope that through this dedicated space, the people of Uruguay and international friends would always remember President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese people, who visited Uruguay in 1912 during his journey for national salvation.
