Vietnam and Thailand to further increase political trust, all-round cooperation

VOV.VN - Vietnam and Thailand agreed to further strengthen political trust and all-round cooperation during phone talks between their Foreign Ministers on June 7.

Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and his Thai counterpart Maris Sangiampongsa reviewed the development of relations between the two countries in the recent times and discussed measures to ramp up bilateral cooperation.

Son suggested that the two sides further coordination in realizing the results of the fifth meeting of the Vietnam - Thailand Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation in Bangkok in April 2024. Accordingly, the two sides will enhance trust and close bond through maintaining the exchange of high-level delegations; promoting cooperation in pillar fields such as defense-security, economy-trade- investment, culture-education, tourism, transportation, and people-to-people exchanges.

They will also coordinate well in establishing a working group to implement the “Three Connections” Strategy (connecting supply chains; connecting economic sectors, businesses, and localities; and connecting green and sustainable growth strategies).

Sangiampongsa for his part affirmed that Vietnam is a important partner for Thailand in the region. He vowed to continue strengthening close cooperation between the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs, contributing to elevating cooperation and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand to new heights.

The two sides agreed to coordinate closely to arrange and prepare well for high-level visits at all levels in the coming time, as well as bilateral cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, especially the fourth Vietnam – Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting co-chaired by the two Prime Ministers.

The two sides also emphasized the importance of economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, affirming to actively coordinate to promote connections between localities and businesses of the two countries.

On this occasion, Son respectfully invited Sangiampongsa to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time. The Thai diplomat said he would arrange time to visit Vietnam as soon as possible.
