Vietnam and Switzerland increase judicial cooperation
VOV.VN - A delegation of the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court led by Chief Judge Nguyen Hoa Binh made a working trip to Switzerland from April 26 to May 1 to share experience in responding to global challenges in the 4.0 era.
Receiving the delegation at the headquarters of Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland, Donzallaz Yves, Chief Justice of the court, briefed his guests on the Swiss court system, including the role of the Federal Supreme Court, and shared experience in the operation of the court.
Chief Judge Nguyen Hoa Binh for his part gave a brief introduction of the delegation’s visit, as well as the achievements in judicial reform Vietnam has recorded over the years.
The delegation also held a working session with Sylvie Forbin, deputy director general of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and other officials in charge of intellectual property and innovation,
Binh proposed that WIPO run intensive training courses for teachers of the Vietnam Court, and provide scholarships for teachers and judges to study at WIPO.
He expressed hope that WIPO would share information about the operation of intellectual property courts in the world, in dealing with intellectual property, Internet- and artificial intelligence related cases.
Forbin affirmed WIPO’s willingness to cooperate and support Vietnam in strengthening the capacity of judges as well as the court system in the field of intellectual property.
WIPO has already worked closely with the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam to help perfect the legal system, internalize international commitments, and create a legal corridor for activities of the court system, she said.
The Vietnamese delegation also held working sessions with the leaderships of state courts in Geneva and Lausanna to learn about their experience in handling criminal, civil, administrative and public cases.
