Vietnam and Germany pledge to promote dialogue and cooperation
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Germany will strengthen political dialogue, parliamentary cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and multi-sectoral connectivity, contributing to the deepening of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

The agreement was reached during talks in Berlin on July 2 between Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Vice President of the German Bundestag (parliament) Bodo Ramelow.
Xuan, who was on a working trip to Germany, affirmed that Vietnam highly values Germany’s role and position in Europe and globally. She emphasised that the year 2025 that marks 50 years of diplomatic relations and 14 years of Strategic Partnership is an important opportunity for the two countries to review and expand their cooperation.
The Vice President proposed that both sides continue to promote delegation exchanges at all levels through Party, State, Government, and Parliamentary channels; strengthen coordination at international forums such as the United Nations and ASEAN-EU; and effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms.
Vietnam hopes the German Bundestag will soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement and support the European Commission in lifting the “yellow card” against Vietnam’s seafood exports, she said.
The Vice President also proposed that Germany continue providing its official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam in key areas such as infrastructure, energy transition, and climate change response.
For his part, Ramelow fully agreed with Xuan’s proposals, noting that a group of German federal parliamentarians is being formed to promote relations with Vietnam. He praised the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Germany and proposed enhancing cooperation in education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Ramelow also noted that many German universities are ready to welcome Vietnamese students through dual-degree training partnerships.
Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in defence and security and coordinate at multilateral forums to maintain peace and sustainable development.
On the same day, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Ines Schwerdtner, co-chair of the German Left Party (Die Linke). The two sides stressed the need to enhance theoretical sharing and practical experiences to promote peace and sustainable development.
Schwerdtner expressed a desire to continue fostering the traditional friendship between the German Left Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam and to learn from Vietnam’s experience in Party development and in combating extremism in European politics.
Xuan also met with the leadership of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation (Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung - RLS) led by Professor Dr. Heinz Bierbaum.
Both sides emphasised the role of progressive political and social organisations in promoting mutual understanding, social justice, and the protection of women’s and vulnerable groups’ rights.
Xuan affirmed that Vietnam values its relationship with Germany, including with organisations like RLS, especially as the two countries mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Bierbaum highly appreciated Vietnam’s development achievements and affirmed that Vietnam’s socialist-oriented market economy is a key topic in the annual dialogues between the German Left Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam. He expressed a desire to continue exchanges and to learn from Vietnam.
