Venezuela to commemorate 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh
VOV.VN - Venezuela will host a special art programme titled “Forever Ho Chi Minh” in the capital city of Caracas to commemorate the 135 birth anniversary of Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh.

During a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Trung My at the Vietnamese Embassy on May 1, Venezuelan National Assembly Deputy and Deputy Minister of Culture Alí Alejandro Primera said the programme, scheduled for May 21 at the Bolivar Theatre in Caracas, is Venezuela’s tribute to the great revolutionary leader of the global liberation movement. He announced that he would personally perform iconic songs honouring President Ho Chi Minh during the event.
Primera confirmed that the Venezuelan government has instructed all relevant ministries to coordinate closely with the Vietnamese Embassy to finalise preparations for the programme.
Primera extended warm congratulations to Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its national reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2025), and emphasised that Vietnam’s victory is also a victory for the people of Venezuela. He noted that Venezuelans consider President Ho Chi Minh a revolutionary leader for all of humankind.
As a renowned Venezuelan musician, Primera shared his deep admiration for Vietnam and especially President Ho Chi Minh. From a young age, he said, he was deeply influenced by songs composed and performed by his grandfather—the late People’s Artist and revolutionary Ali Alejandro such as “Forever Ho Chi Minh” (Inolvidable Ho Chi Minh), “Portrait of Ho Chi Minh” (La figura de Ho Chi Minh), and “The Vietnamese Woman” (La Mujer de Vietnam).
Though he has not yet visited Vietnam, these songs have shaped his vision of a resilient nation and a great leader who dedicated his life to national liberation, unity, and the happiness of the Vietnamese people.

The Deputy Minister also revealed that the upcoming event will feature performances by several prominent Venezuelan singers and the Venezuelan National Symphony Orchestra. He will join other Venezuelan artists in performing historic songs written by the late composer Ali Alejandro, as well as iconic international works like "The Right to Live in Peace" by Chilean musician Victor Jara and "The Ballad of Ho Chi Minh" by British songwriter Ewan MacColl, adapted into Spanish by Chilean musician Rolando Alarcon.
Ambassador My for his part expressed sincere gratitude for the special affection shown by Primera and his family toward President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people. He stated that this event is a powerful testament to the deep bond between the Ali Alejandro family, the Venezuelan people, and the global community in honouring the Vietnamese President.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela will continue to promote the programme Honoring President Ho Chi Minh – National Liberation Hero and Great Man of Culture in the World to highlight and spread his values, ethics, and legacy, as well as to celebrate Vietnam and its people throughout Venezuela and Latin America, he said.
