US Secretary Rubio praises 30-year journey of Vietnam - US relations
VOV.VN - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on July 11 (local time) posted a message on social media platform X, acknowledging a remarkable transformation in US – Vietnam relations over the past three decades.

In his message, Rubio recalled that the US and Vietnam embarked on a remarkable journey 30 years ago, from former foes to Comprehensive Strategic Partners.
By mentioning the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, he emphasised the remarkable transformation in bilateral relations, reflecting both countries’ deep trust and cooperation across various fields.
He also made it clear that the US and Vietnam are committed to working together to promote peace and stability, foster economic growth and prosperity, and uphold a free and open Indo-Pacific, which is a central US foreign policy goal.
“Today, we recognise this important milestone and reaffirm our commitment to advancing peace, prosperity, and security together for a free and open Indo-Pacific,” Rubio wrote.
Earlier, while speaking to the press on the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 11, Rubio also emphasised his appreciation for the strong US - Vietnam relationship.
He remarked that the partnership was not only symbolically significant, reflecting the long journey both countries had taken together, but also presented many promising opportunities for future cooperation.
On the same day, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper released a video message congratulating both countries on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
According to the ambassador, in just three decades, the two countries have moved from healing the wounds of war to becoming trusted partners, working together in many areas including trade, education, health, energy, and security.
He was optimistic that the trust and cooperation already built would continue to grow across key areas in the next 30 years.
