UN to help Vietnam realise climate change commitments

VOV.VN - Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Vietnamese Permanent Representative Delegation to the United Nations, had a working session on March 17 with Selwin Chalres Hart, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on Climate Action and Assistant Secretary-General for the Climate Action Team.

Hart highly appreciated Vietnam’s commitments at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-26), stressing that Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed the United Nations desire to support Vietnam in meeting these commitments.

Ambassador Giang briefed his host on Vietnam’s latest developments, including the establishment of a National Steering Committee aimed at fulfilling the climate change commitments led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Ambassador hoped that the United Nations would help Vietnam mobilize international resources for the implementation of the commitments.

He suggested that the United Nations should take a comprehensive approach for supporting Vietnam, while affirming Vietnam is willing to consider all cooperation proposals from the United Nations.
