Swire group of the UK seeks to expand operations in Vietnam
VOV.VN - The leadership of Swire, a highly diversified business group of the UK, has expressed their desire to expand operations in Vietnam during their recent working session in London with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh who was on a working trip to the UK.

Barnaby Swire, chairman of the group, stated that Swire has operated in Vietnam for a couple of decades through investments in Coca-Cola and Cathay Pacific, and the group is seeking to expand investments in Vietnam in the near future.
Swire reaffirmed the group’s commitment to continuing the aircraft maintenance project at Van Don Airport project in Quang Ninh, while expressed readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese counterparts to accelerate its implementation.
He highly valued Vietnam’s development direction for its international financial centre, and at the same time said Cathay Pacific is willing to cooperate with Vietnam Airlines to enhance air connectivity between Vietnam and international financial hubs.
The Swire leadership also expressed the group’s willingness to share expertise in urban planning and real estate development based on its experience in Hong Kong (China) and Shanghai.
According to the chairman, in Vietnam, Swire has invested in the Empire City project in the Thu Thiem urban area, which has been designated as the core of Ho Chi Minh City’s international financial centre in future.
Swire is committed to further contributing to the area’s development planning, he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh for his part emphasized Vietnam’s policy of promoting economic and trade cooperation with the UK and called on major British corporations, including Swire, to increase their investments in Vietnam.
He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to facilitating British enterprises in leveraging opportunities from the UK-Vietnam free trade agreement (UKVFTA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
He proposed that Swire strengthen collaboration in priority sectors, including the green economy, digital economy, and renewable energy. He also encouraged the group to engage in the development of international financial centres in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang to elevate Vietnam’s economic position and foster national growth.
The Government of Vietnam will continue to support and facilitate the activities of British investors, including Swire, said the Deputy PM.
