VOV.VN - The Chinese city of Shenzhen stays ready to share its experience and help the Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi undertake urban development and management plans.
Shenzhen’s mayor Qin Weizhong, who is in Hanoi for a working visit, made the statement during a reception on September 18 given by deputy head of the Hanoi administration Nguyen Manh Quyen.
Qin briefed his host on Shenzhen’s development, saying the city is one of China’s import-export leaders, with its ports loading and uploading up to 30 million containers annually. The city is also home to many large high-tech giants such as Huawei and Tencent, as well as many of TOP 500 economic groups worldwide.
According to him, Vietnam is currently Shenzhen’s largest trading partner in ASEAN, with bilateral trade growing considerably. In this context, he said Shenzhen expects to further promote economic and trade relations with Vietnamese localities, including Hanoi, especially in the fields of investment, 5G technology, new energy vehicles (NEV), and renewable energy.
Quyen for his part welcomed Qin’s proposal, saying Hanoi expects to learn from Shenzhen’s development experience in the fields of infrastructure development, the environment and urban traffic management.
Hanoi hopes to attract foreign investors in high technology and clean technology, aiming to improve the infrastructure system connecting the city centre and satellite cities, he said.
He proposed that the two sides examine long-term development cooperation programmes for common benefits.
