Russian State Duma Chairman Volodin begins Vietnam visit
VOV.VN - A high-ranking delegation of Russia, led by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, arrived in Hanoi on September 28, beginning a two-day official visit to Vietnam and co-chairing the fourth meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the Russian State

Chairman Volodin and his entourage were welcomed at Noi Bai International Airport by Vu Hong Thanh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Dang Hoang Giang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko, along with officials and staff of the Russian Embassy in Vietnam.
Immediately upon arrival in Hanoi, Chairman Volodin and the Russian delegation laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs and pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum.
Later the same afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man is to host an official welcoming ceremony for Chairman Volodin and the Russian delegation at the National Assembly Building.
The two leaders will then hold talks and co-chair the fourth meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the two legislative bodies.
Volodin’s visit demonstrates the shared desire to maintain and strengthen bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Russia across all channels, particularly parliamentary diplomacy, while sustaining high-level exchanges between the two legislatures.
It also affirms the importance of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee mechanism in promoting substantive, mutually beneficial cooperation in key pillars such as diplomacy, defence and security, energy and oil and gas, as well as in traditional fields including science and technology, education and training, culture, sports, and tourism.
